A Journey from Head to Heart.

This is the autobiography of a person who overcame a childhood of neglect and abuse and discovered his “Real Self.” Adopting the relevant pen name of B.A. Soulman, a resident of British Columbia, Canada tells how extensive reading, study, research, and therapy led him to a life-changing insight: Focus on the feelings in your heart, not the thoughts in your head.

As Soulman puts it: “In this book I describe my own life experiences to try to help the reader gain insight into their own life. It wasn't until I really understood the implications of my childhood experiences and how they was affecting my adult life that I was able to begin healing and then find peace.”

The story of Soulman’s childhood is sad and sometimes shocking. His cold, unfeeling mother repelled his hugs and wiped her face after his kisses. His father was so obsessed with his own possessions and achievements that he unthinkingly placed his child in physical danger.

By some measures, Soulman’s life could be considered a success. He owned a trucking business and a construction business, earned a journeyman heavy duty mechanic license, and served as an ordained minister in the Lutheran church for 11 years.

But a series of unhappy marriages and relationships and ongoing stress-related physical conditions convinced him that something very important was missing in his life. He calls it a Hole in His Soul.

He writes: “I now believe that with the proper tools, some psychological insight, and an honest desire to confront our issues, we can find the Hole in Our Soul relatively quickly, often without professional therapy, if we are willing.”

Soulman’s writing style is informal and conversational. Although there are numerous references to renowned psychologists and therapists as well as an extensive bibliography, the book is reader-friendly
